Uzbek government to oblige installation solar panels on 50% of the roofs of multi-storey buildings.

On February 16, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree that requires the installation of solar panels on at least 50% of the free part of the roof of multi-storey buildings from May 1. The Ministry of Construction together with the regional authorities has to form a list of the installation and maintenance companies.

According to the document, a plan was also approved to provide 765 multi-storey buildings which will be put into operation in 2023 with Renewable Energy Systems (RES) installations. The Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Batyr Zakirov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, deputies of khokims of regions and Tashkent on construction issues are personally responsible for ensuring the implementation of the plan.

The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities together with the regional authorities was instructed to “ensure the creation of companies for the installation and maintenance of solar panels on multi-storey buildings with the involvement of business entities” within a week.

The Ministry of Construction, together with the Ministry of Energy and the Customs Committee, must retrain the specialists of companies in the installation and maintenance of solar panels in the regions within a month.
